Whether you are a hobbyist, recreational flyer, or intend to operate Drones for private purposes, our “Basic Course in Unmanned Aircraft (Multirotor) Piloting (BCUAP”) is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to safely and efficiently operate a Multirotor UAS/Drones.

This introductory course covers the fundamentals of Drone operation, helping you build confidence and competence in flying your own Drone for recreational or private use. By the end of the course, you will be ready to take to the skies and enjoy the exciting world of Drone piloting.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the BCUAP, participants will:

  • Understand the Fundamentals:: Learn about Multirotor Unmanned Aircraft and how they operate, using your own Drone.
  • Master Drone Controls: : Learn about Multirotor Unmanned Aircraft and how they operate, using your own Drone.
  • Ensure Safety: Develop a strong understanding of flight safety, risk management, and airspace regulations.
  • Enhance Practical Flight Skills: Receive hands-on training to build the skills necessary for safe and enjoyable recreational drone flying.
  • Comply with Regulations: Understand and adhere to aviation rules and regulations governing Drone operations for personal use.

  • Prepare for Certification and Professional Opportunities: Prepare participants for the CAASL Unmanned Aircraft Pilot License (SLCAP:4610), which is necessary for flying Drones for recreational/hobby or private purposes. The course sets a clear path for anyone aspiring to work in drone-related industries

  • Individuals aged 16 years and above.
  • Owners of Multirotor Drones under 25 Kg, equipped with GNSS assistance or a stabilization system.
  • Those intending to operate Drones for recreational or private purposes.
  • Aspiring candidates for the CAASL Unmanned Aircraft Pilot License (‘A’ Class – SLCAP 4610) for private use.

Course Content / Syllabus

This course follows the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) Unmanned Aircraft Pilot License (UAPL) syllabus for “A Class” certification (SLCAP 4610), which is applicable for recreational/hobby or private Drone operations.
